Governor Jerry Brown made California the fourth state in the US on Monday to allow physician assisted dying. Yes, only the fourth, and it's disappointing that the numbers (or the lack of) overshadow the real achievement. Everyone has the right to live, and everyone should have the right to die. Of course life is sacred, but the opponents of this law must not seriously think that California's true intentions are to have a genocide. They simply just want to help those people who have no hope of a cure, and are suffering. That's it, there is no story here, Everyone is allowed to make their decisions about their life and body. If you can go and get an abortion from a professional, you should also be able to go to your doctor to die. They are there to help you and to lessen your pain. In any way possible. Of course we support that background checks must take place, and several doctors (including psychologists) should sign off before you are allowed to die. You sho...
Carly Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard and Republican Presidential hopeful, has climbed in polls following her triumphant performance at the Cleveland Debates.
Prior to the debates, Mrs. Fiorina was generally polling around 1-2% both nationally and statewide, and thus only qualified for the second hand debate. If however, she can keep up her momentum, she should be making the next priority debate in California in September.
Mrs. Fiorina is now polling at 7th place in Iowa, with around 10% of the support. This is a huge jump for her campaign, and clearly shows the power of nationally screened live debates. On a national level, her support has quadrupled from 2 to 8% points according to the latest MSNBC poll, which put her in 5th place, even ahead of Governor Bush and Walker.
Of course this is only one poll, not an average one, but it is a good indicator.
Frontrunner Donald Trump dropped 12% in Iowa following the Debate, but nationally he increased by 1%, showing that the public is still open to his way of Politics. His drop in Iowa can be attributed to the rise of Fiorina and smaller increases from other candidates. Most analysts seem to agree that Trump performed decently in the debates, and his latest comments regarding the moderator did not seem to be having a huge negative effect on his standing.
However, what is clear from these and the other latest polls is that the Republican Party and American politics in general has reached an intersection. Candidates who haven't held elective offices and that are clearly not connected to the Washington status quo are clearly favored by the public. According to the same MSNBC poll, Trump is at 23%, Carson at 11% and Fiorina at 8%.
People are fed up with the system and are looking for outsiders who they think will cleanse Washington palette.
The same can be attributed to Bernie Sanders' rise in the Democratic field. While Sanders is a Senator too, people look at him as an outsiders, especially when compared to Hillary Clinton. Hillary seems to be deeply embroiled in many Washington Scandals, and the public seemed to have enough and they are voicing their opinion too.
