Governor Jerry Brown made California the fourth state in the US on Monday to allow physician assisted dying. Yes, only the fourth, and it's disappointing that the numbers (or the lack of) overshadow the real achievement. Everyone has the right to live, and everyone should have the right to die. Of course life is sacred, but the opponents of this law must not seriously think that California's true intentions are to have a genocide. They simply just want to help those people who have no hope of a cure, and are suffering. That's it, there is no story here, Everyone is allowed to make their decisions about their life and body. If you can go and get an abortion from a professional, you should also be able to go to your doctor to die. They are there to help you and to lessen your pain. In any way possible. Of course we support that background checks must take place, and several doctors (including psychologists) should sign off before you are allowed to die. You sho...
It is now only 50 days till Iowa, and Ted Cruz is the new star on the block. Latest polls show that the Texas Senator overtook the lead from Donald Trump. In the string of latest national polls however, Trump is still leading, but his lead has also fallen, as Marco Rubio rises as well, but currently Cruz has the momentum.
On the national scale, Carson's fall is the most visible change. He has made some controversial comments lately, and as a result is falling at a faster rate than President Obama's approval rate. Trump continues to be controversial, and it looks like his latest (disgraceful) comments against muslims might finally make him go down, to a degree at least.
It is also now time for Graham, Gilmore, Pataki and Santorum to finally quit. They clearly have no measurable support behind them after months, so they should just leave to make more space. Although it is not like their exit would give a huge boost to any of the candidates.
It is also time for Senator Paul to leave. He went down in polls even more than Bush, and it is not like he was ever that high up either. This field needs to clear up, for the Republicans to have a bigger chance in 2016.
Christie is not doing that well nationally either, but he has surged to second place in New Hampshire. This is a great result for him and it proves that he can be in it for the long haul. And successfully too. Bush seems to have hit rock bottom a few weeks ago, and is very slowly climbing up. But the emphasis is on the "slowly" part. This therefore leaves us to call for Kasich's exit. He is a nice guy, and we think he would be great, but the general voter doesn't seem to agree, and right now all he does is split up the votes. It is enough if Christie and Bush fight for the same votes, we don't need Kasich there either. And talking of Bush, this debate will be very important for him, it looks like this really will be his last chance!
And what is Huckabee still doing here?
We are sad about one thing though. Carly Fiorina. She was very promising over the summer and the early fall period, but she seems to have fallen. We believe that with another strong debate performance, she can still come back. She really does have a place in the race, as does Bush. So anyone who thinks they should quit, should really think about their state of mind.

So to sum up, 50 days before Iowa, it looks like Cruz is leading. Trump is a close second, with Rubio not far in the distance. Carson can be discarded, and we wouldn't be surprised if he is gone soon. The other candidates who remain in the race, and seem to have a future are Bush, Christie and Carly Fiorina. Anyone else should give up now, and minimize their losses. But in this race, anything can change even overnight.
But let's explore Cruz a bit more.
It is not surprising that Cruz has risen. He has collected the second most money to date behind Bush, and has been courting the evangelicals for months in Iowa and around the country. It looks like they are finally settling on him! But of course Walker's exit greatly helped him for sure!

The two have also started a Twitter war, so it wouldn't be a surprise if it all erupts at the debate. Be sure to watch those two!
Cruz is a great conservative, but that should also trouble many people. He is very conservative on some of the key social issues and just simply doesn't believe in climate change. He was always seen as the second worst after Trump. He has also just encountered what could be his first big scandal this campaign season. The Guardian uncovered how he is using people's online activities to profile potential voters and target them. This doesn't sound that bad, but the way he is doing it seems very unethical to many people. People should watch this unfold more!
The Climate Change part is especially worrying for some people. How can they not believe in it? We have criticized President Obama a lot on here, but we love what he has been trying to do in the past year regarding the environment! He has achieved a lot, and now with the Paris Agreement we have real hope about our future. But it will all depend on his successor to keep up the good work. We know that Hillary and Bernie would, Bush might but Cruz or Trump would certainly not. And that is alarming to us!
