California just made a huge positive step in Healthcare

Governor Jerry Brown made California the fourth state in the US on Monday to allow physician assisted dying. Yes, only the fourth, and it's disappointing that the numbers (or the lack of) overshadow the real achievement. Everyone has the right to live, and everyone should have the right to die. Of course life is sacred, but the opponents of this law must not seriously think that California's true intentions are to have a genocide. They simply just want to help those people who have no hope of a cure, and are suffering. That's it, there is no story here, Everyone is allowed to make their decisions about their life and body. If you can go and get an abortion from a professional, you should also be able to go to your doctor to die. They are there to help you and to lessen your pain. In any way possible. Of course we support that background checks must take place, and several doctors (including psychologists) should sign off before you are allowed to die. You sho...

The fight against cancer

Associated Press Cancer affects everyone's lives. Even if you don't have it personally, almost everyone knows someone who had it. And many have lost loved ones to it. Cancer doesn't pick and choose, it just attacks. From the wealthiest to the poorest, it exists everywhere. Just in the past two weeks we lost three famous faces to it: David Bowie, Alan Rickman and Rene Angelil. And they are just a couple of the estimated 9 million people who died from it within the past year. Yes, more than the size of Austria. Sadly it is that staggering. It is now finally time to find a cure for it. President Obama, in his last State of the Union speech, has promised to make curing cancer a key priority for his last year in office. He said that the government is launching a new initiative, and is committed to make America the country that cures cancer. He likened the situation to space exploration and getting a man to the moon, describing the project as "moonshot". Presi...

Hillary won the first Debate, but Bernie delivered too

Credit: www.slate.com Hillary Clinton won the first Democratic debate on Tuesday in Las Vegas, but Senator Bernie Sanders also performed well and delivered what he intended. In many ways, this debate was even more anticipated than the Republican ones, and it certainly gave us a lot of answers. Emails. Joe Biden. Benghazi. Outsider Politicians. Wall Street. Guns. Hillary Clinton had the most to loose last night, and Bernie had the most to win. And they both delivered to an extent. But the former Secretary of State came away from the CNN debate as the candidate who had the best night. Clinton is clearly very smart and knowledgeable, she gives clear and contextual answers and is a highly skilled debater. She performed very well. But it was together with Bernie that they controlled the stage. They had the most time to talk, and everyone payed attention to them. Poor O'Malley. While Clinton performed the best overall, Sanders received the biggest cheers from the ...

Hillary: It's time to panic

Not everyone will agree, but it may be time for Hillary to finally seriously panic about this race. Months have passed since her email scandal began, and since the rise of Bernie Sanders, and she is still not handling it that well. And the future doesn't look all that great either. Hillary has got to stop the tide. And she is trying. She is giving more interviews and she is out there more, b ut Bernie is still the one that has the momentum. Some would argue that even Joe Biden has more momentum than Hillary's campaign. Hillary's campaign doesn't seem to be focused, it's like they are in denial. Let's look at polling closer. Hillary Clinton is losing to Jeb Bush in Michigan. In Michigan. If a Democrat can't take Michigan, there are some real problems here. Moreover, she is only barely beating Trump there. Hillary has clearly slipped in the polls. On a national scale too, she has got some major problems. In the latest poll, she got 33% of the vot...

Clinton is 'sorry', but is it too little too late?

As Hillary Clinton continues to slip in national polls, she switched up her defence on the email scandal. Clinton for the first time apologised for using a private server, and admitted that she 'made a mistake'. So far, Clinton has received heavy criticism for her handling of the situation, and sticking to the rhetoric that everyone knew about what she was doing, that she wasn't the only one who used private servers and that it was legal for her to do so. In the interview with ABC's David Muir, Clinton touched upon many aspects of her campaign, but everyone was listening to the email questions. It is rare that she even gives interviews, but her campaign felt that something must be changed as the former First Lady is dropping in polls all across the board. Mrs. Clinton will also appear on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and the Ellen show this week, in an attempt to show more of her personal side, and to divert attention from her scandal. Clint...

Speculation surrounding Biden after meeting with Warren

More and more speculation is surrounding the Presidential ambitions of current Vice President Joe Biden. For weeks now reports have been discussing how Biden has been talking to his advisors and potential donors as he is trying to decide his future. And the biggest indicator has just been made public. Senator Elizabeth Warren. While many may not be familiar with Warren's name or record, she in fact is a heavyweight within the Democratic Party. The Massachusetts senator is famous for her liberal stance and is the face of the progressive wing of the party. She was in fact the expected opponent of Hillary Clinton up until earlier this year, when she declined to run (to the dismay of many in the party). Most of her supporters ended up with Bernie Sanders, which explains his surge in the polls. He is now considered as a major candidate who is actually beating Hillary in some polls. Senator Warren is a very influential and respected politician in Washington, and she is...

Perry misses out, as the Top 10 prepare for the big battle

The top 10 candidates have been announced for the first nationally televised debate among the Republican Candidates. It was always known that people like Donald Trump, Jeb Bush and Scott Walker would be there on the centre of the stage, but the last two available places saw a hard battle fought for them. It was a three way battle between Ohio Governor John Kasich, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and former Texas Governor Rick Perry. In the end, it was the Texan who failed to poll high enough in the latest surveys, and thus missed the primetime show. He will now be participating in the afternoon session with the other seven candidates who failed to register enough support. It is a big blow for the Texan, who famously destroyed his own campaign after the debates of 2012. He will now have a chance though to finish atop the afternoon debate in front of Senator Lindsey Graham, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, former New York Governor George Pataki, Businesswoman Carly Fiorin...

BIDen, or why the Vice President has a place in the race

Sure Bernie Sanders is there, but many Democrats worry that they will have to end up supporting Hillary to beat the Republicans. And many don't want to. They simply just don't trust her. And this is where Joe Biden comes into the picture. There is clearly a significant support for Biden's bid, and many think that he has a real chance against his former cabinet member.  Joe-mentum is now or never, and Biden knows it too. He has been flirting with the idea for the past few years, and hasn't really given up on becoming President, although if elected, he would be the oldest ever. Biden first ran in 1988 but dropped out in the early stages of the contest. He tried again 20 years laters, ran a decent campaign, but was overshadowed by the Obama-Hillary war, and ended up as the Vice President. Now it can be take two against Hillary, and many people hope it will be.  Vice-Presidents have a tendency to try and go for the last mile, as it can be seen on the hit H...

The Trumpmania continues

Donald Trump has shown no signs of slowing down. In the most recent poll, he leads the Republican Pack with 24% of the support, and is currently the clear frontrunner for the GOP's nomination. Trump has been generating a lot of attention lately with his outrageous comments about the Mexican Immigrants and questioning John McCain's war-hero status. He has received a lot of criticism for his behaviour almost unanimously from everyone, even the Republican Party and most of his fellow GOP candidates.  However, his poll numbers suggest that many people are able to connect with him, as he is completely different than the other candidates, and is not afraid to criticise or say anything. He is also very trusted on the economy, and his firm stance against ISIS. Trump on the other hand is also the leading candidate on the poll that surveyed who people would not vote for under any circumstance, and that is not a good sign for him. Candidates such as George Pataki, Lindsey...

The Democratic Outsiders

No, we are not talking about Hillary or Jeb here. They can by no means be called outsiders. They are the frontrunners and are expected to face off in November 2016. However, the road will be long and rugged, and a lot can happen. Let's start with the Democrats, because the list is shorter. A lot shorter. Sanders, Biden, O'Malley, Chafee and Webb.  Bernie Sanders. Well. A year ago no one has even heard of the 73 year old Vermont senator in Mainstream politics. Now, he is drawing a crowd of 10,000 in the backyard of Wisconsin's Governor Walker. It is a remarkable feat, and he is growing steadily in the polls, closing that gap on Hillary. By now Sanders has become a major contender who will give Mrs. Clinton a fight for her money, and could cause big upsets. The Democratic Socialist is appealing to the most liberal democrats with his social messages and taxes on the rich, raising the minimum wage and decreasing inequality. Hillary watch out. Chafee,...
