California just made a huge positive step in Healthcare

Governor Jerry Brown made California the fourth state in the US on Monday to allow physician assisted dying. Yes, only the fourth, and it's disappointing that the numbers (or the lack of) overshadow the real achievement. Everyone has the right to live, and everyone should have the right to die. Of course life is sacred, but the opponents of this law must not seriously think that California's true intentions are to have a genocide. They simply just want to help those people who have no hope of a cure, and are suffering. That's it, there is no story here, Everyone is allowed to make their decisions about their life and body. If you can go and get an abortion from a professional, you should also be able to go to your doctor to die. They are there to help you and to lessen your pain. In any way possible. Of course we support that background checks must take place, and several doctors (including psychologists) should sign off before you are allowed to die. You sho...

New York President

Daily Mail New York City is a great city. In several ways it is perhaps the greatest city in the world. Everyone must go there at least once in their lives. New York is also big and very diverse. That is how it is possible that four of the main (if not all) candidates for President are from New York. On the Republican side, Donald Trump is the epicentre of everything New York. No question about that. On the other side, Hillary Clinton was a Senator from New York while Bernie Sanders was born in Brooklyn, and he couldn't deny it. And now that it seems that Michael Bloomberg could join the race as an Independent, it can be declared that all the main candidates in 2016 are from New York. This is crazy, a country of 323 million people, will all choose their next president from one city. It's like a local election. So what makes New York the perfect place for a candidate? We are not sure. It may be the money and the winning atmosphere. Or all the famous and influential ...

Pataki makes it 12

Former New York Governor George Pataki has ended his campaign to be the Republican Presidential candidate in 2016. This comes just over a week after Senator Graham quit too, and just over a month before the first voters head to the polling stations. The moderate Republican Pataki failed to differentiate himself in the crowded 2016 field, and leaves 12 candidates in the race. George Pataki was the Governor of New York on 9/11 and based his campaign strategy on crisis management and foreign policy experience. He was also the only Republican candidate who supported same-sex marriage and one of the first ones to continusoly attack Trump over his comments during the early summer campaign period. Yet despite all of his best effort, he has failed to gain momentum in the polls, and never really polled above 2%. Not even in New Hampshire where he focused his campaign. He also failed to raise enough money to continue, and continues the "Curse of the Governors". Pataki became the ...

Carly Fiorina has done it again, but this time at the big kid's table

Carly Fiorina out shined everyone once again. Wednesday saw the second Republican Presidential Debate take place at the Reagan Library in California. It was a glorious yet terrifying setting, as the candidates stood in front of President Reagan's plane, with which he effectively ended the Cold War.  Once again there were two debates, and once again there were two clear winners. In the second tier debate, a surprise victor emerged, Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. No one expected this, but it was a very clear victory in the end for the veteran. And in the main event of the night, there were several interesting performances, but Carly Fiorina clearly collected her second victory of the debate season. If you didn't do it so far, you definitely have to watch out for her from now on. Let's start with the earlier debate and say that it was much better than expected. It was a huge opportunity for the four participants, as they now had more ...

Jeb for President!

We are finally able to side with one candidate for the Republican nomination in 2016, it's: That's right, we are ready to endorse Jeb Bush, the former Governor of Florida, to be the Republican candidate come November.  This time around, it was hard to chose someone from the Republican crowd. Yes, a crowd. A crowd of 17. But when you look at it closely, it really is only a handful of candidates that even have a chance. And out of those few, some are so far from our values, that we were able to narrow it down quite well in the end.  We like Chris Christie. We like how outspoken he is, and how he just doesn't care about norms. However, he has been largely overshadowed by Donald Trump, who does the same thing. Christie's policies are good too, and he deserves respect for his record in New Jersey, but in the end, we just don't feel that he is strong enough in a final showdown.  Donald Trump. Well no, we would never endorse him, but we have to give him...

The GOP Outsiders

No, we are not talking about Hillary or Jeb here. They can by no means be called outsiders. They are the frontrunners and are expected to face off in November 2016. However, the road will be long and rugged, and a lot can happen. After looking at the Democratic candidates, in part 2 we will be taking a look at the candidates for the Republican ticket. And oh boy, there are a lot of them. Some silly ones too, but mostly real politicians, who have a chance, even if that is a veery slim one.  Governor Chris Christie. Christie just announced in the last couple of days, but he has been polling very well for the last couple of years. Even though Bridgegate has hurt his political momentum, the outspoken New Jersey Governor is perhaps the biggest challenger to Jeb Bush at this stage of the race. Christie is proud of his economic record and disaster control, and is more liberal than most of his contenders on issues such as immigration and same-sex marriage....
